Fingerprint payments, smart door locks, customs clearance… Fingerprints have become the “universal key” to identity verification. But behind this convenience, security concerns have never faded: fake fingerprints made from gel, available online for just a few dollars, can fool ordinary chips; once fingerprint data is leaked, it cannot be changed for life; and when recognition fails due to wet or dry fingers, users are forced to revert to passwords—the security defenses keep crumbling.

The fundamental weakness of traditional fingerprint chips lies in their inability to distinguish between “patterns and living tissue.” Optical and capacitive sensors essentially rely on image matching, making them easily fooled by silicone membranes or conductive adhesives; data is transmitted in the clear, making it vulnerable to interception and tampering; and they are highly sensitive to finger conditions, failing to function in even slightly adverse environments.

“Security Concerns” Surrounding Fingerprint Chips and Xingqihang's Solution: Glass-Based Fingerprint

Don’t worry! Xingqihang’s glass-based fingerprint chip offers a solution on three levels.

[Level 1: Live Detection—Fake Fingerprints Are Stopped at the Door]

The excellent light transmission of the glass substrate allows infrared technology to shine. As soon as a finger is pressed against the chip, it immediately emits near-infrared light to detect the concentration of oxygenated hemoglobin in the blood beneath the skin—a reading consistently above 95% for living individuals. Fake fingerprints made from gel or conductive adhesive? Without this vital sign, they’re immediately deemed “invalid.” Access is granted only when both conditions are met: “an infrared reading of 95% or higher” and “matching fingerprint features.” Fake fingerprints and severed fingers? Forget about it!

[Layer 2: End-to-End Encryption, Data Protected Throughout the Entire Process]

Fingerprints are securely locked away from the moment they are captured. Real-time encryption at the sensor ensures that raw data never leaves the chip; transmission channels are secured with digital signatures, preventing tampering or interception during transit; and storage is similarly rigorously protected, with fingerprint templates stored in an irreversible format—even if the device is disassembled, the original information cannot be recovered or replicated. The dedicated security chip also features physical attack resistance, making brute-force attacks impossible.

【Layer 3: High Reliability, No Compromise on Security】

The glass substrate has a surface hardness of >5H and remains wear-resistant after a million presses; it accurately recognizes fingerprints in 0.25 seconds regardless of whether fingers are dry or wet, or if the sensor is cracked or dirty; it operates in a wide temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and features ±15kV ESD protection. Recognition never fails, so users never need to resort to insecure backup verification methods.
